Travel insurance & rescue when traveling to the remote destination like Nepal is strongly advised. It should provide adequate protection for the full duration of the tour. Your insurance policy must cover all the activities that you will be undertaking during your stay in Nepal such as helicopter rescue, cancellation, air ambulance, injury, death, lost baggage, theft, liability, medical treatment, and cover repatriation and personal expenses. If a client becomes ill, all hospital expenses, doctors’ fees, and repatriation costs are the client’s responsibility.
Drinking plenty of water helps prevent altitude sickness. Drink at least 3-4 liters a day – clean water, boiled and filtered, or treated tea/coffee/soup/juice etc.
It is much better that you use your own bottle and refill it each day. Bring a filter system, or chlorine tablets or an ultra violet light treatment system. Buying bottled water can be very expensive the higher you go as it all has to be carried up the mountain, and the empty bottles disposed of. Using your own water bottle helps to keep the environment safe from unwanted plastic rubbish
The larger villages including Lukla, Namche and Pheriche have basic clinics suitable for minor ailments. Below is a list all of the common medicines that you should bring. But you must also ensure you have sufficient of any prescribed medicines to last you for the entire trip with some spare in case of delays. Consult your doctor about this. Come prepared.
From Everest Base Camp you can see the tip of Mt Everest. In order to get a better view we trek up to Kala Pathar in the early morning.
The teahouses have charging facilities for mobile phones, cameras and batteries. They usually charge 100 Rs for each charge. It is a good idea to have spare batteries.
Camera
Yes, most tea houses and bakeries have WiFi on the trek. It may be free with a purchase of something to eat and drink or you may have to pay for it. The WiFi prices go up with the altitude.
Yes. They are free in Namche but you will have to pay for them once you leave. Some trekkers wait until the end of the trek to shower!
If you take the precautions above you are less likely to get altitude sickness. However you may still get it above 3000 meters. Watch out for the following symptoms:
These symptoms are to be taken very seriously. In case of appearance of any of the above symptoms any further ascend should be reconsidered; otherwise more serious problems may occur which can even cause death sometimes within a few hours. The only cure for the Altitude Sickness is to descend to a lower elevation immediately. Acclimatization by ascending to no more than 300 to 500 meters per day above 3000 meters and the proper amount of rest are the best methods for preventions of AMS.
If a trekker ever gets an unusual or severe headache, or feels unusually short of breath, they should immediately descend 2,000 feet (600 meters), no matter the time of day. High Altitude Pulmonary Edema (HAPE), excess fluid in the lungs, and High Altitude Cerebral Edema (HACE), swelling of the brain, are rare but life threatening conditions that require immediate descent and medical attention.
Only ever drink filtered, purified, treated or boiled water. Never drink water straight from the tap. Not even to clean your teeth. It may be fine, but it is not worth the risk.
Flights by plane and helicopter are prone to cancellations and delays as a result of notorious weather in remote areas and occasional operational complications especially in the Everest region. When these flights are included in the itinerary, we recommend you carry extra money to buy food and accommodation in case of delays. Himalaya Trekking Team will not be responsible for these additional expenses or costs incurred from lost connections, so plan accordingly.
It is normal to leave some luggage in your hotel in Kathmandu. Bring a lockable bag to leave behind. On the flight from Kathmandu to Lukla your check-in bag should be under 10 kg and your hand bag should be under 2 kg.
Flycam its prohibited in Nepal.
You do not need to have trekked in the Himalayas before, but it is a good idea to get fit before you come as you may be trekking for 6-8 hours per day.
We usually set off in the morning after an early breakfast and we break for lunch, finishing in early to mid-afternoon.

The cost of the helicopter is payable directly to our office or official representative. USD/AUD cash or credit cards (Visa Cards, Master Cards, American Express only) are accepted. Remember Everest Base Camp Trek is Adventure Trekking in Nepal so you should have well fitness level and well prepared, before you come to Everest Trekking its much better to go Swimming, Cycling or walk every day 4 km. Remember that no trek in the Himalaya is a stroll as all involve going up and down at altitude and that altitude affects everyone differently.
Money
It should be better to bring the USD in Nepal. Because you can change everywhere easily.
You should exchange enough money into Nepalese Rupees to last the entire time of your trek before leaving Kathmandu. You can find the money exchange counters near your hotel also can get in trekking trails but they will take more commission.
Tipping
Tipping is a personal and voluntary matter and tips are not included in the trip price but who will working for you they are expect the tips so you can give tips directly to them at end of your trekking / tours and tipping is not any limitation so you can give tips as much you like if they will make you happy.
Insurance
It is main important part of the trip. Your Travel insurance is not included in the trip price. Your travel insurance must provide cover against personal accident, medical expenses, emergency evacuation and repatriation (including helicopter evacuation) and personal liability. is included trekking crews' against personal accident.
Health
There are no specific health requirements for travel into Nepal. However, for the trekking in Himalayas, you are in excellent health with average physical fitness and have positive attitude, self confidence and strong determination, you can accomplish this trek successfully but you should consult your doctor for up-to-date information regarding vaccinations, high altitude medication and medications for any reasonably foreseeable illnesses whilst traveling in Nepal. Some part of trekking have a small health post for emergency treatment with limited equipment, limited health workers and medication. Be aware that some drugs, including anti-malarial, have side effects at altitude. Please discuss this carefully with your doctor.
Please be aware that you will be in remote areas and away from medical facilities for some time during this trip. We strongly recommend that you carry a personal First Aid kit as well as sufficient quantities of any personal medical requirements (including a spare pair of glasses).
High Altitude Sickness
AMS (acute mountain sickness) is a serious issue. It is the result of the failure of the body to adapt to high altitude and can affect anyone, regardless of age or fitness. It usually occurs above 1,800 meters and the likelihood of being affected increases as you ascend. The way to reduce the affects of altitude is to ascend slowly, 300 meters per day above 3,000 meters until you have acclimatized. Poor acclimatization results in headache, nausea, sleeplessness, difficulty breathing and swelling of fingers and glands. The only cure for AMS is to descend to lower altitude and your guide's decision on this matter is final. When you are planning to trek above 3,000 meters we recommend not walks faster. If you will get altitude sickness please consult with your guide to go down at least 500 meters to recover.
Important Note:
The Government of Nepal has announced an issue for the flight operation to Lukla. Most of the flights to Lukla will commence from Ramechhap until further notice to avoid the heavy traffic congestion in Kathmandu airport. The airport in Ramechhap is located 130km from Kathmandu (approximately 3-4 hours drive).

Over a number of years we have trekked with OB and his team to Annapurna, Everest Base Camp and Mt Gokyo.
OB was a fantastic organizer and wonderful company on our treks.
Even when problems arose, OB was always in control and very professional.
We would highly recommend him to anyone considering a visit to Nepal.

I just did EBC with OB and Uttam in Sept. Both of them are responsible, caring and professional. While OB have a very vast knowledge about the EBC route, Uttam is very friendly, always smiling. They take much care to us. They not only provide us a very good exchange rate but also show us what the real Nepalese food and traditional wine is on the way back to Lukla.
Thank you so much OB and Uttam and your all team members of Himalaya Trekking Team to to make my first trip to Nepal unforgettable. Definitely, I will go back Nepal and I highly recommend OB and Uttam.

This has been my first big Trekking experience, and this adventure personally brought me a lot. Thank you so much to the team for such a fantastic trip. Excellent service with a warm welcome right from the airport. Highly professional, ensuring we were taken care of at all times. On the trek itself, we had Mr Pasang Sherpa as our guide and Mr Kaji Sherpa as our porter, who went above and beyond his duty to make sure we had everything we needed. I will never forget how they made it possible, and about the beauty of the path we took. The EBC trek is totally awesome with a diversity of breath-taking landscapes that we travelled in a good comfort thanks to the numerous guest lodge and tea houses. We will never forget this trip. Thank you team!
