Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek – Famous Short Trek in Nepal near Pokhara
Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is one of the best known Short Treks in Nepal. Close to the lovely relaxing lakeside town of Pokahara, it is very popular with those wanting a relatively short and easy trekking in Nepal through interesting Nepalese villages with a stunning view point at the top of Poon Hill where the Annapurna Range and Machhupuchhare, the Fish Tail Mountain can be seen. For decades, travellers have made their way through the lush forests and arrive at the summit at sunrise. The ascent is quite long, and so the sense of achievement can be immense. It is an ideal introduction to the gentle Nepalese way of life and their traditions. The villages are charming and because this is a popular route there is a variety of accommodation in the villages to suit different tastes. It also combines walks through beautiful Rhodedendron forests. The lovely Gurung villages, local hospitality and beautiful terraced paddy fields are very memorable. A good time to go is in the spring when the rhododendron forests are in full bloom making spectacular views with the high mountains in the distance.
